Business Intelligence Engineer

The Business Intelligence Engineer (BI Developer) works across and its affiliate or groups companies (the “Company”). You will be part of a fast-growing team working on global and local accounts, reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer (Alec).

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to help us and our clients gain useful insight out of raw data.

The business intelligence developer is an engineer that’s in charge of developing, deploying, and maintaining BI interfaces. Those include query tools, data visualization and interactive dashboards, ad hoc reporting, and data modeling tools.

Your ultimate goal will be to help improve product and business decisions by making the most out of data.

You have the ability to think strategically and execute brilliantly and nurture these abilities in others. You have good organizational skills and attention to detail. You will ensure that Company’s professional standards are never compromised. To this end, you will ensure that systems and procedures are maintained and that the business operates profitably, within budget and to the highest level of quality, efficiency, client service and professionalism.


Product management

  • You will take high-level business requirements, propose different solutions with their trade-offs, and deliver data projects through to completion.
  • You translate data requirements into well-defined data features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
  • You partner with stakeholders and customers across the organization to inform the data vision, strategy, features, and prioritization.
  • You are responsible for innovation and end-to-end launch of data products.
  • You provide support to inexperienced analysts with high-level expertise in an open-source language (e.g., R, Python, Julia, etc.). 
  • You spot and evaluate emerging/cutting edge, open-source, data science/machine learning libraries/big data platforms (e.g. XGBoost, H2Oai, Spark, Hadoop, etc.).
  • You adhere to stringent quality assurance and documentation standards using version control and code repositories (e.g., Git, GitHub, Markdown).
  • You perform data mining and collection.
  • You ensure data quality and integrity.
  • You interpret and analyze data problems.
  • You conceive, plan and prioritize data projects.
  • You build analytic systems and predictive models.
  • You test performance of data-driven products.
  • You visualize data and create reports.
  • You experiment with new models and techniques.

  • You define data management workstreams and SOPs with the CPO.

Technical skills

  • Proven experience with BI tools: Google Data Studio, PowerBI, Tableau…
  • Proven experience with databases and data models
  • Experience in development languages such as Python, R…
  • Expert in query languages such as SQL
  • Solid understanding of machine learning
  • Knowledge of data management and visualization techniques
  • A knack for statistical analysis and predictive modelling
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with cloud computing providers (GCP, AWS…) is a big plus
  • Git, CI/CD experience is a must

Project management

  • You develop, own, and execute data product roadmaps as part of a team. 
  • You define and execute go-to-market plans, working to ensure that product management, marketing, and sales have what they need to be successful.
  • You develop and maintain appropriate tracking and reporting of data product performance post-launch to evaluate future investments.
  • You manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and provide transparent reporting to clients on the progress and deliverables.
  • You are committed to meet deadlines. 
  • You concentrate on multiple projects and products at the same time.
  • You work in an Agile environment.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • You collaborate with data and software engineers to enable deployment of sciences and technologies that will scale across the company’s and our clients’ ecosystem. 
  • You manage a team of data scientists, machine learning engineers and big data specialists. 
  • You work with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders, including design/user experience, engineering, and user enablement.
  • You work with user-focused departments to define the self-service user experience, support, and monitoring for customers.
  • You are responsible for client and internal and external team communications around technology and products.
  • You maintain thriving internal and external relationships.
  • You are a thought leader within the Company and help other team members better understand data management; where needed you share past experiences to energise and motivate the team as a whole.
  • You have a “can-do” attitude and proven ability to work in a team environment.

  • You manage the financial viability of data product delivery with Agile Product Owners. 
  • You work closely with the internal product team and external development teams to maintain a balance between speed and quality of execution. 
  • You investigate, initiate, manage and direct new and better ways of working.
