Engineering Manager

Remote, Contract Based

The Engineering Manager works across Admiral Digital and its affiliate or groups companies (the “Company”).

You will be part of a fast-growing team working on global and local accounts, reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer (Alec). 

You will directly manage teams of software engineers, being responsible for agile planning and execution of complex technical projects. You will work closely with both backend and frontend developers to ensure high quality delivery of project milestones. Where required, you will conduct code reviews and be hands-on with technical execution and architecture. 

You actively seek and encourage development teams to strive at every opportunity to produce work that delivers first class results for our clients. You communicate clearly to internal and external stakeholders and are responsible for direct client updates around technical project delivery. 

You have the ability to think strategically and execute brilliantly and nurture these abilities in others. You have good organizational skills and attention to detail. As member of the Leadership Team, you will ensure that Company’s professional standards are never compromised. To this end, you will ensure that systems and procedures are maintained and that the business operates profitably, within budget and to the highest level of quality, efficiency, client service and professionalism.


Product management

  • You will take business requirements from business analysts, propose different solutions with their trade-offs, and deliver products through to completion. 
  • You have the technical expertise to provide technical leadership to major projects and manage teams of engineers. 
  • You will oversee features from conception to the final product. 
  • You are and expert in agile ways of working and guard these principles within the team. 
  • You are an expert in DevOps cultures and instil this in your teams. 
  • You will master a variety of tools and technologies to facilitate internal and client product needs. 
  • You will define product management workstreams and SOPs with the CPO.

Technical skills

  • You are experienced in full stack software development and architecture. 
  • You are well versed in mobile app development, web development and backend development. 
  • You are experienced in designing JSON-based API’s. 
  • You are experienced in designing and developing microservice architectures with multiple moving parts. 
  • You knowledgeable about databases, including schema design and optimisation. 
  • You are familiar with algorithms and data structures, especially when it comes to performance.
  • You have CI/CD experience.
  • Being a cloud native is an added bonus.

Project management

  • You are responsible for internal and external team communications around technology and products.
  • You are responsible for overall planning, execution and success of complex technical projects, managing them independently from start to finish. 
  • You manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and provide transparent reporting to clients on the progress and deliverables.
  • You manage the project in agile, data-driven ways.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • You lead technical communications.
  • You concentrate on multiple projects and products at the same time.
  • You maintain thriving internal and external relationships.
  • You are a thought leader within the Company and help other team members better understand technology;  where needed you share past experiences to energise and motivate the team as a whole.

  • You work closely with the internal product team and external development teams to maintain a balance between speed and quality of execution.

  • You directly manage teams of software engineers. 
  • You direct and motivate the team to ensure premium quality and profitable project outcomes.
  • You provide professional development for team members, including training and mentoring, supported by constructive feedback and criticism.
  • You conduct performance appraisals and participate in relevant hiring recommendations within the Company.
